Electronic sources, although they are varied and vast, are not monitored for accuracy. Therefore, especially when locating sources through a Google search, it is important to examine research critically before using it within your writing.

Evaluating Sources: Helpful Tools

Lesson Objective

Lesson Objective

We will determine how to evaluate sources of information by identifying our research needs for our specific thesis statement

 Major Keys

  • Searching is strategic - not all sources of information are the same
  • Research should begin with a an "information need" - a plan for what type of information is best suited for your thesis/topic
  • Sources should be varied and evaluated based on how appropriate they are in relation to your information need
